Xinjin is a city defined by water—in particular, by its undulating river. The new Nanhe River Landscape Bridge is a dramatic icon for the city. The sinuous curves of the helical design for the bridge emulate this body of water while simultaneously channeling the centuries-long tradition of Chinese landscape bridges. Thus a contemporary symbol of Xinjin is born that draws inspiration from the city’s most timeless qualities.

The winning design for a 700’ long pedestrian and bicycle bridge in Schezuan County creates a new tourist and riverfront destination on the Nanhe River. The torque box truss design reflects the city’s need for a bridge with greater capacity than the current bridge, hence the double strand. This unique design improves the bridge’s relationship with the flood plane by raising its height over the river.
