Steel doors and windows have mullions in order connect to the vintage steel windows of the original early modern home and studio. The cubic stucco volumes are balanced by the stone walls in the landscape and the new limestone floors. The house was sold in 2013 and remains a single family residence.

Formerly the home and studio of American painter Ezra Winter, this house situated on a hilly 20-acre site in Northeastern Connecticut was renovated as the home of two designers. The scale of the large studio with the lower main house required the altering of the roofline and profile as well as a new addition to create a more harmonious assemblage of structures. The building has a contemporary interior vocabulary that still bridges with the traditional interiors of the original rooms.
