Inside Teach for America National Headquarters

The 22,000 sf office space was designed to encourage good communication between staff members but also to allow enough individual space for employees to focus. Individual carrels were designed to be customizable and easy to navigate. The layout of the office is as open as possible, yet allows for the kind of privacy and small meetings that are essential in an organization that reviews many personal applications.

The design of the Teach for America National Headquarters was a gut renovation of a full floor of a former manufacturing building into the national offices for Teach for America. As the space previously not only housed the administrative and financial staff but also the staging and processing area for all fellowship applications, it was crucial to develop a plan which was functional, to budget, and would be completed to schedule.
