The plan outlines how to revitalize 700 acres of industrial land in North Brooklyn by aligning zoning, infrastructure, and environmental strategies to support manufacturing, climate resilience, and equity.

WXY led a multidisciplinary team to define policy and infrastructure strategies to protect the essential industrial jobs and services that have long-defined the North Brooklyn Industrial Business Zone (IBZ).

Rapid transformation of Brooklyn’s neighborhoods has put economic pressure on former industrial sites where manufacturing facilities still function and employ many people. To protect and grow industrial businesses in North Brooklyn, encompassing East Williamsburg, Greenport and Bushwick, WXY developed a new framework to support mixed-use industrial-commercial development.
