The hybrid buildings articulate the new, complex uses of this segment of the Park: miniature golf and snack bar with the Dock Master’s office; skateboarding facility combined with comfort station, utility and maintenance building; and the newest structure slated to open in 2015, a boathouse and restaurant with a upper public deck.

In the Tribeca section of Hudson River Park, four new buildings were designed to support a variety of recreational activities on two piers that have become destinations in their own right. Dozens of activity areas planned for the piers required these smaller multi-purpose buildings to support both the utilities and the indoor needs of the Park’s staff and visitors.

Each of the buildings shares a civic/industrial vocabulary of materials and forms: zinc standing seam cladding, glazed brick bases and iconic signage. On top of this each of the functions of the individual building are expressed by elements such as shading canopies and their particular sculptural form.
