Our framework activates underused sites, consolidates land, and guides zoning to enable density, expand access, and spark economic growth at Broadway Junction and its surrounding neighborhoods.
WXY was contracted by New York Economic Development Corporation to lead a planning initiative to support a mixed-use district in and around the Broadway Junction transit hub.
Site Plan
This district will integrate commercial, residential, and institutional uses, public realm and transportation infrastructure improvements, and enhanced connectivity to surrounding neighborhoods.
WXY provided specific technical expertise in order to (a) refine a vision and identity for the area, focused on fostering economic development opportunity and leveraging the transit hub; (b) activate underutilized land and consolidate uses, where feasible; (c) identify site assemblage opportunities to accommodate higher-density development; (d) identify areas/corridors for retail, public space, and an active streetscape, and (e) develop clear recommendations and guidelines to inform materials for a detailed zoning and land use approvals application that may be pursued in the future.
