This redesign turns a basic utility into a dignified, accessible public space by restoring the historic façade and adding a clean roofline.

WXY’s redesign of the comfort station in Battery Park transforms an essential amenity into a welcoming, modern space. With a restored limestone façade and a contemporary roofline, the project balances historic character with a forward-looking design.

Limestone and metal detailing connect the comfort station to its urban and park surroundings.

The reimagined comfort station improves accessibility while enhancing natural light and user experience. Its bold new roofline and upgraded fixtures redefine the space as both practical and inviting, situated conveniently near Battery Park’s Town Green and bikeway rest area.

A welcoming comfort station integrates seamlessly with Battery Park's tree-lined paths and open spaces.

WXY worked with accessibility specialists and park planners to ensure the comfort station’s design met modern needs without losing its historic character.

The upgraded comfort station is now a key amenity in Battery Park, supporting visitors and cyclists alike while setting a standard for accessible, thoughtful design.
