Proud to share WXY ’s feature in the Jan/Feb/Mar 2026 issue of Metropolis Magazine, a piece that gets at something central to how we work.
Writer Rebecca G. found the clearest expression of our approach not in a tower or a master plan, but in a restroom pavilion and parking lot at Storm King Art Center. That’s intentional. As Founding Principal Claire Weisz puts it, “all of these issues around space, time, form, light, and environment are actually squandered by thinking of architecture as just buildings.”
That sensibility travels. Director of Urban Design David Vega-Barachowitz describes what WXY brings to projects beyond New York: “It’s this sensitivity to the public realm and a recognition in New York that we are pedestrians and we are experiencing and walking the city a block at a time.”
From rebuilding Rockaway’s boardwalk after Sandy to the Packer Collegiate Garden House to NYC’s first ADUprogram and digital platform and the Glass City Riverwalk in Toledo, the work spans scales and geographies, but the starting point is always the same. We look closely at how people actually experience this place?
That question is what connects architecture, landscape, planning, urban design, strategy, and policy under one roof, and what makes the work matter beyond any individual project.
Thank you to Metropolis and Rebecca Greenwald for the thoughtful look at what we’re building toward.
