design distinction in interactive design.

06.29.2009 : plaNYC FAR ROCKAWAY PARK
WXY's design for a shade structure at the plaNYC Far Rockaway Park being developed by
Quennell Rothschild Landscape Architects was featured in a report by
MONOCLE Magazine. The report presents five "Great urban projects" changing cities around the world. The July/August issue is on newsstands now.

06.04.2009 : NYC INFORMATION CENTER
WXY with
Local Projects will be presenting the NYC Information Center as part of the
New York Designs Lecture Series. The Architectural League created the juried lecture series New York Designs to provide a forum for the presentation of innovative and accomplished built work in New York City. The 2009 New York Designs committee asked designers to think about and define "public" today; and how they would imagine buildings, landscapes, and urban places that aspire to be for the public.
The presentations begin at 7PM Thursday, June 4.

WXY's Project the NYC Information Center is one of six projects selected for
the Architectural League's 2009 New York Designs lecture series. The lecture programs will take place on June 4, 2009.
The Architectural League created the New York Designs juried lecture series in 2003 to provide a forum for the presentation of innovative and accomplished work built in New York City. This year’s theme public, asked designers to think about and define "public" today; and how they would imagine buildings, landscapes, and urban places that aspire to be for the public.

04.08.2009 : THIS IS NEWARK
WXY's proposal will be showcased in THIS IS NEWARK Gateway Urban Design, an exhibition at
Aljira, a Center for Contemporary Art in Newark, New Jersey. THIS IS NEWARK is an exhibition of proposals for marking the points of arrival to Newark and addressing the history and culture of Newark in the urban landscape. The exhibition will be showing from April 8-18 with closing reception Friday April 17, 6pm-8pm and a roundtable discussion Saturday April 18, 2pm-4pm.
03.2009 : MILL RIVER PARK PORCH DESIGN
WXY was shortlisted to submit a proposal for the Mill River Park Porch and Playground Comfort Station Design.

03.11.2009 : PLANETARIUM DE MONTREAL
WXY in collaboration with
Doyle Partners recently submitted a proposal for the competition to design a new Planétarium de Montréal.
Sited on the former Olympic complex between the Olympic Stadium Tower and the Biodôme, Le Météorite is our planetarium for the 21st century, home to a myriad of spaces and experiences; an instrument of both science and entertainment. The innovative competition for the new structure included the redesign of the site. Our design forms a new park, extending the interior world of the planetarium type into the landscape: the Parc du Météorite.
